I’ve been blogging for a couple years now, but there’s still one thing I’ve yet to try.
The personal blog.
I’ve written about why you need to have a personal blog, but I’ve never created a personal blog for myself … that is, beyond what I used to do over on MySpace before it went bad. Not sure why it’s taken me this long to get around to it, but I suppose I was so obsessed with creating something I could learn from, I overlooked perhaps one of the most informative sources I could tap, which is myself.
Exploring topics I feel passionate about, such as blogging for artists or writing fiction, is fun, but it’s about discovering and sharing knowledge external from myself. I’m going to be doing it here to a degree as well, but this is the first attempt to cut the formality — yes even the formality that comes packaged with the style of a casual blogger — and really just voice opinion, share ideas, and express myself without filtration.
I’m not hoping this blog turns into a super-popular destination that evolves into a book deal with the major publishers; rather, I’m hoping this turns into a place of self-discovery for myself as well as a place where people can read along.
